We sell a range wood cutting band saws from the small tabletop DIY bandsaw up to professional 14", 16 ",17", 21" and 24" heavy duty band saws. The size given on a bandsaw is not the height of the cut but the size of the wheel that the blade travels on. The cut depth will be slightly smaller than this as the rear of the bandsaw blade needs to be protected in the rear support column. On larger powerful band saw the size and rigidity of this rear support column are crucial to a stability and trueness of the machine. For resawing large timber blocks into veneers or planks choose a 3 hp or above. For cutting and shaping the likes of hurleys either of the 14" or 16" will be suitable, but 3 hp or above will increase speed significantly.
For crafts or smaller or intricate work, either of the two smaller band saws that we have for sale will do. For woodturners, we would recommend the HBS251 or the HBS 351.
