Are there any special tips for table saws?

Yes. there are four very important issues to remember. These tips will help you get long and satisfactory use of your machine. The first is that the table surface of the saw and any sliding carriage or extensions attached must be cleaned and degreased thoroughly before the first operation and then have a protective coat applied to the surface. These surfaces should offer little resistance to the movement of the wood passing over it. This will require regular maintenance and application over the life of the machine. The second is that there must be adequate dust collection at all times and that the blade tilting and raising mechanisms and other areas prone to dust and chip build-up must be blown off regularly. The third issue to be aware of is that during the early operation of your saw any drive belts must be inspected and re-tensioned as required. The final piece of advice we would offer is that using an appropriate sharp blade is more critical than having extra horsepower.
